PHRYGIA. Alia. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Hemiassarion (Bronze, 17 mm, 2.87 g, 12 h), Gaios Asinios Frugi, archon. Time of Trajan, 98-117. ΦΡOYΓΙ ΑΙΤΗCAMENOY Laureate and draped bust of Mên on crescent to right, wearing Phrygian cap. Rev. ΔΗΜΟС ΑΛΙΗΝΩN The Demos standing front, head to left, holding grain ears in his right hand and transverse scepter in his left. Martin, Alioi 1. RPC III 2615. Very rare. Slightly rough, otherwise, very fine.

ΑΙΤΗCAMENOY translates as 'who called for the vote', indicating that the archon Gaios Asinios Frugi had requested permission from the city council to finance a coin emission as a form of euergetism to his polis.
